All of our coaches at Inner Athlete Gym are fully qualified with a range backgrounds and experiences in their careers so far. All of our coaches draw from a variety of areas of knowledge and study backgrounds. They are all also Emergency First Aid trained and fully insured so you can be sure your personal trainer meets the highest standards and offers the best service and care to you.
Meet Our Team:
James Rush, co-founder, is a prominent figure in the local fitness industry with a large following of dedicated clients. He has become well known for coaching Strongman with world-winning athletes under his cap. He is also a qualified Nutritional Therapist, gaining his qualification with the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM). James also used to compete in Strongman and this reflects in his own training as well as being heavily focused on refining his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu skills, training under black belt Kevin Hall of Basingstoke School of Martial Arts.
Jessica Lavender, co-founder, qualified as a personal trainer five years ago after being empowered by resistance training and regular exercise in her own life. She enjoys working with clients and helping them overcome confidence issues within the gym. Jess runs the majority of bootcamp classes and loves getting involved with them. Jess will soon be on maternity leave, expecting her first baby in Summer 2021. Jess holds qualifications in Counselling Therapy – she’s a great person to talk with if you have fears of joining a gym.
James Parker is an experienced coach and athlete with a background in strength sports like strongman and powerlifting. He set a British Junior Powerlifting record in his competition years. He also has experience coaching American Football. He holds a degree in Sports, Exercise and Coaching. James enjoys weight training and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training under Kevin Hall of Basingstoke School of Martial Arts.
Chris Leyendeckers is a L4 qualified personal trainer specialising in Obesity and Diabetes management. Chris has an interest in strength and conditioning that aligns with his own training and experience as well as wanting to help clients improve their overall health and fitness through exercise and an improved diet. In his spare time, Chris enjoys training, Jiu Jitsu and walking his Husky.
Rob Brown is a level 3 qualified personal trainer with over 9 years experience which includes helping people achieve sustained weight loss and muscle building to sport specific performance. Rob has a passion for helping people with not only training and nutrition but in creating a sustainable lifestyle through positive habit formation and behavioural coaching. In his own training, Rob focuses on being as diverse as possible incorporating strength training, endurance and functional fitness. When not in the gym you can find Rob out for a run, spending time with his wife and daughter or at home composing music.
