All of our coaches at Inner Athlete Gym are fully qualified with a range backgrounds in their careers so far. All of our coaches draw from a variety of areas of knowledge and study. They are all also Emergency First Aid trained and fully insured so you can be sure your personal trainer meets the highest standards and offers the best service and care to you.

Meet Our Team:

James Rush, co-founder and Head Coach. James is a prominent figure in the local fitness industry with many years experience under his belt. He has become known for coaching within the sport of Strongman; coaching two world-winning athletes during his career so far. James is a qualified Nutritional Therapist with the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM). He used to compete in Strongman and this reflects in his own training still. In his spare time James enjoys spending time with his fiance and their soon-to-arrive son and their two dogs as well as refining his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu skills at Basingstoke School of Martial Arts.

Jessica Lavender, co-founder, is a qualified personal trainer and enjoys working with clients to help them gain confidence in the gym and see great results. She also holds qualifications in Counselling Therapy so is a good person to talk to about fears of joining a gym for the first time. Jess ran the majority of bootcamp classes before going on maternity leave to have her son but can still be seen popping in and out of the gym.

James Parker is an experienced coach and athlete with a background in strength sports like strongman and powerlifting. He set a British Junior Powerlifting record in his competition years. He also has experience coaching American Football. He holds a degree in Sports, Exercise and Coaching. James enjoys weight training and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training under Kevin Hall of Basingstoke School of Martial Arts.

Chris Leyendeckers is a L4 qualified personal trainer specialising in Obesity and Diabetes management. Chris has an interest in strength and conditioning that aligns with his own training and experience as well as wanting to help clients improve their overall health and fitness through exercise and an improved diet. In his spare time, Chris enjoys training, Jiu Jitsu and walking his Husky.

Nina Bassimeh is a qualified personal trainer with many years experience in the fitness industry.
